BSI is first certification body approved by the UAE Civil Defence for gas products

BSI, the business standards company has become the first certification body to receive approval from the UAE Civil Defence to issue Civil Defence Certificates of Conformity (CoC) for gas products.

This approval will enable BSI to support those UK manufacturers and traders who wish to gain compliance for their gas products against the new UAE Fire and Life Safety Code Regulation. Compliance to this regulation is a requirement for all regulated gas products being placed on the market in the UAE.

In order to achieve approval, BSI’s gas product testing facilities, based at its centre of excellence in Loughborough, were rigorously audited by the UAE Civil Defence. Now approved, BSI can provide the required testing and certification of gas products and issue Certificates of Conformity on behalf of the UAE Civil Defence.

Gas products regulated under the UAE Life and Safety Code require full product certification including type testing in accordance with the applicable standard, and a factory audit at the place of manufacture. Manufacturers that seek testing and certification from BSI will attain the BSI Kitemark™ before receiving a Certificates of Conformity.
